Alex’s Priorities
-
We are in the midst of an affordability crisis here in Hudson County, but we have the tools to face it head on. We need to protect tenants and small landlords, set clear rules for developers, and ensure we are enforcing rent control laws already in place in Hudson County.
My Plan:
Advocate for increased state and federal funding to expand affordable housing options for seniors and veterans
Protect homeowners by demanding responsible county budgeting and opposing unnecessary property tax increases
Promote fair housing practices and due process protections so that tenants are treated with dignity
-
As our county grows, and with most of District 9’s residents relying on a car to get to work, we need bold solutions to ensure folks are able to get from point A to point B safely and efficiently.
My Plan:
Updating county road patterns to reduce congestion
Increasing county funding to public transit initiatives, to expand our bus and train lines throughout West Hudson
Encourage transit-oriented development

Recent studies have found that climate change costs residents and businesses across Hudson County more than 600 million dollars annually. As the effects of climate change worsen and the frequency of intense storms increases, our residents should not be burdened by these costs.
My Plan:
Adopting a countywide Climate Action Plan
Increasing the number of trees planted in our community
Improved stormwater management, including more rain gardens and bioswales along county roads
Standing against any new projects that increase environmental burdens on our community

As your County Commissioner I pledge to be responsive, transparent, and accountable. With 20% of your property taxes going to the County budget, you deserve to know how your money is being spent.
My Plan:
Easily consumable data visualizations and explanatory statements on the county website
Frequent town halls and a community newsletters
Better access to transcriptions of meetings in multiple languages.
